We believe in valuing the good qualities that each person has.
There are many different types of people, so it is important to think about the work method that suits each person.
I want people to work by making the most of what they are good at, without taking away their strengths as much as possible.

Sasaki
Senior Managing Director
My previous job was working at a hotel, and I was always thinking about ways of working that brought out the best in each person.
Learn from seniors in the group who have good teamwork,
I’m always thinking about what kind of senior I should be to earn the respect of my subordinates.and also thinking about developing the talents of my subordinates.

Sasaki
President and Representative Director
Teamwork is really important.
No matter how much we think about management, manufacturing is ultimately done by human hands.
A company can only be successful if it has people who understand the philosophy it values and handle it with care.
Tanaka Suisan’s high quality can only be achieved through teamwork with those working at the manufacturing site.

Sasaki
Senior Managing Director
oh yeah.
Because we work with food, we must be able to properly control quality.
When people work carefully one by one and there is good teamwork, good food can be produced.

Sasaki
President and Representative Director
Currently, we not only have staff working in this area, but also many people from overseas who are working as apprentices.
Even if they are not familiar with Japanese, the staff do a great job, and the staff notice and point out small areas for improvement.
The company as a whole is made up of a variety of people.

Sasaki
Senior Managing Director
That’s really true.
Sales staff can also demonstrate their strengths because they understand the thinking behind such manufacturing sites.
Because they have the sensitivity to listen to other people’s opinions and respond flexibly, they are able to work with a thorough understanding of the ideas of their business partners. And they can tell customers how delicious our products are.

Sasaki
President and Representative Director
I think the number of people coming from overseas will continue to increase in the future, but the quality that Tanaka Suisan has cultivated over the years will be combined with the strength of new workers.
We value creating a comfortable work environment and teamwork so that we can become an even better company and produce even better products.

How to work in the factory
Dairy schedule
Personnel assignment by factory manager
Based on the manufacturing plan for the day, the factory manager allocates the work of female employees and foreign apprentices (two patterns: morning and afternoon). Male employees set up their positions before female employees and foreign apprentices arrive.
Seasonal schedule
The types of fish are determined to some extent depending on the season, such as scallop season and autumn salmon season, but the number of catches, bidding results, delivery times, etc. change daily. This is a schedule to maintain freshness.
What do we do on days when you are not landing or transporting raw materials?
Naturally, on days when there is no catch due to stormy weather, no raw materials are brought in. This can sometimes last for several days, but in preparation for such situations, we work by thawing and processing frozen raw materials, sorting work, and packaging work.
During the winter season when the scallop boats are closed for fishing, you will be involved in tasks such as thawing and processing frozen raw materials, sorting frozen scallops by size, packing them into bags, and putting them in cardboard boxes, packing year-end gift crab products, and peeling crabs.

Work rules
Overtime will be required during the busy season for scallop landings and autumn salmon landings. During the winter, work hours end at 5:00 p.m., but overtime may be required on rare occasions. Our company has adopted a flexible working hour system on a one-year basis.
Daily timetable
8:00 Start of work
12:00 Lunch
13:00 Start of work
17:00 Leave work
18:00 Overtime depending on the season

Although working hours are long in the fisheries industry, on the other hand, there are busy seasons and off-seasons, so you can make effective use of your off-season time.
This allows you to clearly separate periods for concentrating on work and periods for refreshing, and allows you to maintain a rhythm of work and rest.
Our company has adopted a flexible working hour system on a one-year basis.
