The Sea of Okhotsk, located at the eastern edge of Asia, is a “dream sea area” where a wide variety of fish live and thrive, as a cold current (the Liman Current) and a warm current (influenced by the Kuril Current and the Kuroshio Current) meet, providing abundant nutrients to the seawater.

In winter, cold winds from Siberia cause drift ice to form in the Sea of Okhotsk.
When the drift ice melts in the spring, the phytoplankton get trapped inside and proliferates beneath the ice. This causes a large number of zooplankton to appear, feeding on the phytoplankton, and thus causing marine life to become more active.
This leads to an abundance of fishing grounds.
The Sea of Okhotsk is home to a wide variety of seafood, including salmon, Alaska pollock, cod, herring, octopus, flounder, and crab, which are caught in abundance.
The drift ice creates good fishing grounds, which produce a large amount of high-quality fish.
Salmon is landed steadily thanks to a hatchery and release program.

The scallops that we mainly handle are a gift from the sea that is protected and nurtured, taking advantage of the characteristics of the sandy Okhotsk coast.
